ALUMNI BASKETBALL: Duda becomes 14th Anteater to break 1,000 points

Former Griffin Stephanie Duda (LAHS '03) scored 15 points in the final home game of her career as the UC Irvine Anteaters fell to Long Beach State 59-53 Thursday night at the Bren Center.

With her points, the UCI senior from Lakewood now has 1,003 in her caree, and becomes the 14th Anteater women's player to reach the 1,000-point plateau and ranks 13th overall in the record books. Duda also led all players with 14 rebounds, recording her league leading 16th double-double of the year.

Mallari earns JC tourney all-MVP honors

Alex Mallari (LAHS '05) was chosen MVP and named to the All-Tournament team for Chabot Junior College (up in Hayward, California) which won the Napa Valley College men’s preseason basketball tournament this past weekend. Mallari had eight points in the championship game

Fields scores 16, 17 in Stanford wins over Northwestern and Concordia; Coach calls him "most improved" on team.

Former Griffin Landry Fields (LAHS '06) scored 16 as Stanford defeated Northwestern 71-60 on November 15, and had 17 in an 82-70 win over Concordia on Nov.. 6. Fields had 8 points in Stanford’s 73-53 win over Colorado State on Saturday. Cardinal Basketball coach Trent Johnson called Fields the “most improved player” on the Cardinals this year.

Jones comes off bench to lead Northern Arizona scorers as Lumberjacks fall to No. 4 Kansas

Good news, bad news: The good news is ex-Griffin Cameron Jones (LAHS '07) is already seeing some floor time for Northern Arizona University. The bad news is he saw some against the No. 4 ranked University of Kansas last week when the Jayhawks dismantled the Lumberjacks 87-46 on Nov. 21. The score was 44-10 at halftime. Jones led NAU with eight points. Jones went 3-for-4 in NAU’s 76-69 loss to Arizona on Nov. 15.
