Former Griffin Landry Fields (LAHS ’06), a second round draft pick, officially signed with the New York Knicks on Friday.
“It feels awesome, man,” Fields told Mike Slane of NYKnicks.com. “It feels good to be here in New York.”
The New York Times noted that Fields, the 39th pick in the June draft, should compete for playing time at both shooting guard and small forward after impressing team officials in the summer league, when he averaged a team-leading 15.6 points. The 6-7, 210-pound Fields averaged 22 points and 8.8 rebounds in his senior season at Stanford.
Ironically, Fields is already rumored as trade bait, according to the New York Post which speculates that Fields could be part of trade that would bring Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks.
